About The NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and to create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of livestock and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals. The Institute plans to promote bio entrepreneurship by providing supportive and stimulating academic and creative environment for commercial tenants involved in the development of farm animal based products and services.
Location NIAB is located in Hyderabad, the hub of Biotech, Pharma and IT clusters, within the campus of University of Hyderabad – the highest ranked university in the country. It is also very close to the newly proposed campus of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Indian School of Business (ISB), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) and Indian Immunologicals (IIL).
Requirements NIAB is looking for Senior, Mid-career and Young Scientists with outstanding record of research accomplishments, as documented by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals in the areas of genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment and bioinformatics. In addition to those in the core areas, candidates with interdisciplinary background and strong research programmes in biotechnology are encouraged to apply.
Applications will be received throughout the year. A search cum screening committee will review the applications and the short-listed applications will be encouraged to give a seminar and participate in discussions. This will be followed by a formal interview for final selection.
NIAB is also looking for exceptionally brilliant young scientists/senior investigators with relevant background for sponsoring their research programmes at NIAB under various career development fellowship schemes promoted by national and international funding agencies.
