Environmental Science is the study of environmental problems, particularly the problems created by pollution. Environmentalists are people, who are concerned with problems arising in the environment particularly due to the uncontrolled pollution in the atmosphere of the earth. Environmental Science includes correlated sequence that is structured to permit students to develop their knowledge in environmental science to offer them with the solid foundation with the help of which they can pursue environmental science as a career in future and to expose them to the present issues in the public policy and environmental science.

The last few decades saw tremendous strain on forests, water, air and other natural resources and measures are being taken by environmentalists to address the problem. As an initiative towards protection of environment, environmental science courses were introduce in the year 1980 in Indian universities. Eligibility requirement for getting into environmental science courses:
For getting into the short-term courses and UG courses in environmental sciences, candidates must have completed their 10+2 in science stream inclusive of biology. For getting into the PG courses, candidates with PG degree in agricultural science/environmental science/life science/biology after 10+2 are eligible to apply. Even engineering graduates are eligible to apply to environmental science courses at the PG level.
