The National Dairy Research Institute is the premier organization that provides research and development programmes of the nation. Over the years, it has gained prominence as the front ranking research organizing on global basis. Animal Biotechnology Centre is one of prestigious centre of the institute. Activities on biotechnology research at NDRI were initiated during mid eighties under a UNDP' Centre of excellence programme on Biotechnology.
Brief course content :
1. Introduction to different types of stem cells : Embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, spermatogonial stem cells
2. In vitro production of buffalo embryos : IVM, IVF, IVC
3. Setting of primary cell culture from the fetus
4. Feeder layer preparation for ES cellc ulture
5. Different types of media and supplements for stem cell culture
6. Embryonic stem cells : Methods of isolation of ICM from blastocyst and culture
7. Culture systems : on feeder layer and on feeder free systems
8. Characterization of in vivo generated stem cells by surface and intracellular markers
9. Differentiation of stem cells : Production of embryoid bodies; spontaneous and directed differentiation
10.Induced pluripotent stem cells; generation and characterization of buffalo iPS cells
Applications are invited from researchers and teachers of animal biotechnology and allied sciences not below the rank of scientist of ICAR/Assistant Professor of SAUs and CAUs working under NARS. the application must reach to the Course Director before december 15, 2011. Intending participants, who anticipate delay in sending their application through proper channel, may send an advanced copy of their applications. However it will be their responsibility to bring duly forwarded applications or a non-objection certificate at the time of joining the courrse.
