Postdoctoral fellowship Cell Cycle Biology - Germany

Post-Doctoral Position, Cell Cycle Control and Carcinogenesis
DKFZ - German Cancer Research Center
Heidelberg, Germany
A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ingrid Hoffmann at the German Cancer Reserach Center, DKFZ, in Heidelberg, Germany. The position is funded initially for two years (salary according to TVL-E13).
Your tasks:
We are working on the regulation of the centrosome in mammalian cells (Cizmecioglu et al., 2010, JCB 191, 731-9; Puklowski et al., 2011, NCB 13, 1004-9). Having the correct number of centrosomes is crucial for proper chromosome segregation during cell division and for the prevention of aneuploidy, a hallmark of many cancer cells. Like DNA, centrosomes are duplicated only once per cell cycle. Errors in centrosome duplication lead to cells with too many or too few centrosomes. The biochemical pathways underlying centriole duplication are largely unknown.
The aim of the project is to identify and characterize substrates of the master regulator of centrosome duplication, using SILAC and biochemical techniques. The project will aim at characterizing the identified proteins in centrosome duplication and to analyze their regulation by Plk4.
Your profile:
We are seeking highly motivated PhD candidates with experience in molecular biological and biochemical techniques.
Deadline: 31 December
