ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the positions of Manager, Watersheds, as part of a continuing expansion in the institute’s commitment to the development and use of watershed technology.  These positions are based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh.
ICRISAT is one of the members of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).  CGIAR is a global partnership that unites organizations engaged in research for sustainable development with the funders of this work. The funders include developing and industrialized country governments, foundations, and international and regional organizations. The work they support is carried out by 15 members of the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers, in close collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector. Responsibilities : Integration of management, development, and research aspects of on-farm and on-station watersheds.  Good knowledge and skills in the integrated watershed management concept, engineering aspects of watershed development including topographic survey, construction of rainwater harvesting structures, preparation of GIS maps, and preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) and conduct of research trials in the areas of soil, water, and nutrient management. The incumbent is expected to travel extensively to watershed sites in India.
Desired Candidate’s Profile : The candidate should have MSc in Agricultural Engineering with a minimum 15 years of hands-on experience in reputed research institution. Degree/Diploma in Agricultural Engineering with 20 years of relevant experience  will be considered. Incumbent should be well versed with handling and management of various instruments used in the watersheds such as total survey station, runoff and soil loss recorders, groundwater  level meters, pressure plates, soil moisture measuring devices like neutron probes and TDR, etc. Good data handling and processing computer skills are essential. The person must have good proficiency in English writing and communication skills; knowledge of more Indian languages will be an added advantage. Candidate with evidence of good quality Publications in the area of watershed management will be preferred.
The Reward : These positions are in the scientific and managerial group of ICRISAT, with a competitive salary and benefits package paid in Indian rupees, which includes attractive perquisites. These positions are for an initial three year period, and may be extended depending on requirement, funding availability and performance of the incumbent.
