Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a 14 month fixed term contract position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Behavioural Neuroscience based at the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway. The successful candidate will work on a project which aims to develop, validate and pharmacologically characterize a new, anatomically relevant model of post-surgical pain.
The position is funded by an Industry-Academia collaborative grant and is available on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be employed by the Industry partner but based full time at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Essential Qualifications: Applicants must have completed (or be near completion) of a PhD in a relevant area and have an interest in pursuing pre-clinical research into pain. Strong organisational and scientific communication skills are also essential.
Desirable Qualifications: The ideal candidates will have significant experience in one or more of the following: Behavioural neuroscience; pre-clinical pain research models (in particular models of post-operative pain); surgery (e.g. stereotaxic or similar); histology; immunohistochemistry; stereology.
Start date: c.a. February - April 2012
Starting salary: €40,000 per annum
