Postdoctoral Fellowship BioMedical Science - USA - Feb 2012

The Department of Pathology, School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow and multiple PhD students to be filled as soon as possible.
Position duties and responsibilities : Area of primary interest is large-scale biomedical database building/management and biomedical data analysis associated with human cancer and other diseases involving wide-spectrum of applications. Research and development activities at the initial stage will include the development of large-scale biomedical databases in collaboration with computer scientists and biologists.
Qualifications for a postdoc position : an earned doctorate in biology/biomedical science/computational science/computer science/information technology, or very closely related discipline; a strong research background in bioinformatics and computational biology; experience in working with next generation sequencing data; substantial knowledge in databases and programming languages (java, javascript); strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and participate in ongoing departmental programs.
