Vacancies - National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani

Applications are invited for the positions of Research Associate, Technicians, Clinical Assistant, Senior Research Fellow, Data analyst for  various extra-mural  and intra-mural  projects to be executed by the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani.  Selected applicants will be appointed for a period of one year.  The tenure of appointment may be extended depending on performance and availability of funds.
Project 1 : Understanding the regulatory dynamics of tubercular granulomas through genomic and proteomic analyses: implications for latency and re-activation

Position : Research Associate (1)
Essential Qualification : Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or a similar discipline
Essential experience : Research experience in Genomics/Human Genetics
Nature of Duty : Collection of biospecimens, Design and conduct of molecular genetics experiments, Data analysis and Manuscript writing
Stipend : 24,000/- fixed per month + 30% HRA

Position : Technician (1)

Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or a similar discipline
Essential experience : Experience in carrying out analysis of DNA samples
Nature of Duty : Collection and processing of biospecimens, Conduct of molecular genetics experiments
Stipend : 30,000/- fixed per month

Position : Clinical Assistant (3)

Essential Qualification : B.Sc. in Life Science or in a similar discipline
Essential experience : Experience in phlebotomy and collection of biospecimens from patients; Processing of biospecimens; Collection of primary data.
Nature of Duty : Attending clinics, Obtaining informed consent from patients, Collecting primary data by interviewing patients, Drawing blood by venipuncture, Transportingbiospecimens from collection site to laboratories.  Note: The work involves variable and long working hours
Stipend : 20,000/- fixed per month

Project 2:  Using whole transcriptome analysis to unravel the effect of pre-operative
progesterone in operable breast cancer

Position : Technical Assistant (1)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or a similar discipline
Essential experience :
Experience in carrying out analysis of DNA samples
Nature of Duty : Collection and processing of biospecimens, Conduct of molecular genetics
experiments
Stipend : 10,000-12,000/- fixed per month

Project 3: HPV16 methylome, methylation and expression status of host genes: influence on cervical cancer pathogenesis

Position : SRF (1)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Human Genetics/Genetics/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Zoology with a good academic record.
Essential experience : Two years research work
Nature of Duty : Planning and execution of molecular genetics experiments using human DNA/RNA samples. Data analysis and interpretation of results
Stipend : 23,400/- [Rs.18,000+ 30% HRA]fixed per month

Project 4: Molecular epidemiology of HPV and cervical cancer in Tripura: genetic variations influencing HPV persistence and disease development

Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Human Genetics/Genetics/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Zoology or a similar discipline
Essential experience : Two years research work

Project 5: International Cancer Genome Consortium – India Project
Sl no : 1
Position : Technical Specialist (1)
Essential Qualification : MSc or equivalent in genetics/life sciences/biochemistry/related discipline orBSc in any scientific discipline with at least three years' experience in genomics laboratory work, including the handling of capillary DNA sequencers
Essential experience : Basic experience in DNA & RNA laboratory work, including PCR, sequencing and genotyping, annotation/analyses of DNA sequence and genotype data
Nature of Duty : Hands on second generation flow cell sequencing laboratory work and instrument operations as well as other related laboratory activities
Stipend : 18000-25000/- fixed per month

Position : Data Analyst (1)

Essential Qualification : MSc or equivalent in bioinformatics/related discipline
with proficiency in programming in C/C++, Linux, Perl
Essential experience : Knowledge of popular programming languages, handling of software packages and databases, experience in handling DNA sequence/genotyping data
Nature of Duty : QA/QC and analysis of raw sequence and genotyping data generated by the second generation flow cell sequencing platforms, programing, design and operation of second generation flow cell sequencing data analysis pipelines
Stipend : 18000-25000/- fixedper month

Project 7: Comprehensive genetic analysis of the risk factors for Chronic Pancreatitis in a population from North-Eastern Region of India
Position : Project Fellow (1)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Human Genetics/Genetics/with a good academic record
Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Zoology with a good academic record
Essential experience : Experience in carrying out analysis of DNA/RNA  samples
Nature of Duty : Collection and processing of biospecimens, Conducting molecular genetics experiments using human DNA/RNA samples. Requirement of project needs frequent travelling to hospitals in Agartala (Tripura).
Stipend : 15,600/-[Rs.12,000+ 30% HRA]
