Majhighariani Institute of Technology & Science (MITS) was started in the year 1999 under the patronage of Basantadevi Charitable Trust. The MITS was conceived in response to the acute deficiency in centers of higher learning (Technical) in the country as also, the need to develop relevant human capital to meet the technology and management challenges of 21st Century. In today's context in the state of Orissa, the brand 'MITS' immediately brings to one's mind as one of the few institute that produces class of young achievers in enterprise, information technology & industry. MITS holds the pride of place being the first ever-technological institution in Orissa to get awarded by Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhawana Award-2004 for imparting Best Technical Education in Orissa. Now, MITS has developed into a reputed Engineering Institution with ISO 9001: 2008 Certification. The college is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha & Berhampur University and also approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
ADMISSION INTO B.TECH BIOTECHNOLOGY
Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate should passed / appearing in 2012, 10+2 Examination with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subject along with one of the subjects from chemistry/ biotechnology/ biology /Electronics/ computer science/ information tech./Geology/ Statistics & obtained at least 45 % mark (40% in case of S.C./S.T.) in the above subjects taken together. Admission is only through OJEE examination. There is no age limit to appear at OJEE-2012 for admission .
Selection Procedure: The admission shall be based strictly on the basis of OJEE-2012 rank only.
Admission Procedure: The application form for OJEE-2012 can be purchased from Banks and Post offices ( Selected Branches given in OJEE web site http://www.odishajee.com/ OR http://www.ojee.nic.in/ and completed application form should be submitted to OJEE office through the banks, post offices or by post/speed post/regd. Post/ courier. However the candidate may also apply online which can be filled directly in the website of OJEE-2012 that is http://www.odishajee.com/ OR http://www.ojee.nic.in/ . Completed application form and DD of Rs.550/- received after due date 22nd March 2012 will not be considered for further processing. Any shortfall in filling up of seats from NRI occurs, such vacant seats may be filled up from the merit list of All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).

ADMISSION INTO M.TECH. BIOTECHNOLOGY:
Eligibility Criteria:
Any person who have passed / appearing final year B.Tech in Chemical Engineering/ Leather Technology/Biotechnology /Industrial Biotechnology/Bio Chemical Engg./B.Pharm. OR M.Sc in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, BioPhysics, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Agriculture and Veterinary Sc. from any University of Odisha or equivalent recognized University as defined by UGC/AICTE. The candidate should have obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST category) at the qualifying examination.
The Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT) - 2012 will be held for admission to First Year Masters Degree Programmes in Engineering / Technology. Candidates having valid and qualified GATE / GPAT rank cards need not appear in this test. However Non-GATE/Non GPAT are required to appear in this test. This test will be conducted by OJEE on 6th May 2012 for M. Tech.
Selection Procedure: Selection for admission will be strictly on the basis of OJEE-2012(PGAT)/GATE/GPAT
Admission Procedure: Candidates should fill up the on-line application form available in the website www.odishajee.com.or http://www.ojee.nic.in. The Candidate after filling the on-line application form should take a print of the submission confirmation slip and send it along with the DD of Rs. 550/- in favour of “OJEE 2012” payable at Bhubaneswar to Chairman, JEE cell by speed post/ regd. post/courier, so as to reach by 22nd March 2012. Completed application form and DD of Rs.550/- received after due date 22nd March 2012 will not be considered for further processing.
