Cancer Cell Biology Job vacancy - Manchester UK

Applications are invited from highly motivated, ambitious and capable candidates to work on Melanoma skin cancer. You will join a team embedded within the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Matrix Research and the Molecular Cancer group. We are located in a superbly equipped state-of-the-art institute, which provides an exciting research-environment and houses a range of core-facilities (e.g. bioimaging, mass spectrometry, microarray analysis, RNAi-screening). Work in the lab investigates the impact of the tumour environment on melanoma cell invasion and on the response of melanoma cells to targeted drug treatment. This particular project aims to identify regulators of drug resistance. The work includes an RNAi and drug screen, conventional protein-biochemical and cell-biological techniques (2D and 3D) and live imaging of melanoma cells in Danio rerio.

Salary : £29,099 – £29,972 p.a.
Educational Qualification : You must hold (or expect to hold shortly) a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline and should have at least one first author publication. Experience in general tissue culture techniques, as well as cell biology, molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques and immunohistochemistry are essential. Skills in imaging techniques and experience in working with Danio rerio are desirable.
Duration : The position is available from February 2012 for up to 3 years.
