Postdoc Position in Hepatitis C Virology and Immunology
Laboratory for Molecular Hepatology at the University Hospital Zürich, Switzerland
Our lab is interested in Hepatitis C Virology and Immunology with a focus on factors that influence disease outcome and treatment success, as well as in the mechanisms of liver injury and fibrosis.
The aim of the project is to study human genetic factors that influence the outcome of HCV infection and treatment, in conjunction with viral evolution to adapt to these host genetic factors. Candidate genes and adaptive viral mutations identified in a large patient cohort will be further studied in vitro in the HCV replicon model.
We are looking for a PhD with good skills in Molecular Biology and Immunology. Experience especially with some of the following techniques would be an advantage: Work with DNA, RNA, PCR, cloning, real-time PCR, sequencing, tissue culture, HCV replicon, si-RNA knockdown, transfection, flow cytometry. The candidate should be able to work independently, and should be fluent in German and English. An MD or PhD student with experience in the above mentioned techniques may also be considered.
