The Institute of Human Genetics, Department of Genomics at the Life & Brain Center, University of Bonn, Germany invites applications for a PostDoc Position in Bioinformatics. The position starts May 1, 2012 or later and is for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of an extension.
Project Details:
The primary focus of our Department is on gene identification in complex diseases using high through-put genomics technologies (SNP-, expression- and methylation-arrays, next-generation-sequencing). Ongoing projects include genome-wide association studies in a variety of diseases including psychiatric, neurological and dermatological disorders. We offer an excellent multidisciplinary team-oriented research environment and opportunities.
They are further enhanced by extensive collaboration with the Institute for Medical Biometry, Informatics and Epidemiology (University of Bonn), the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the Research Center Jülich as well as leading national and international research institutions.
Requirements:
We are looking for a dedicated postdoctoral scientist (PhD or MD) with a strong bioinformatics background, keen to integrate this knowledge into modern molecular biology and genomic technologies in a high through-put genotyping environment, and to pursue cutting edge research. Advanced computer skills (knowledge of programming languages and experience with databases) are required.
